Having brought 3D, Blu-ray and 4k to consumer electronics, we’ve now brought Reality Display to an HD tablet. We use the expertise from our BRAVIA® TV engineers when developing our mobile screens, to bring you the same quality you’d expect from a top-quality HDTV.

Xperia Tablet Z brings revolutionary screen technology to the tablet viewing experience. With a full wide colour gamut, Xperia Tablet Z reproduces the widest colour spectrum, so you can view every detail in vivid colour. Both still and moving images are brought to life, for a no-compromise viewing experience.

Design

Minimal yet distinctive – OmniBalance design

The design of Xperia Tablet Z is focused on creating balance and symmetry in all directions. We call it OmniBalance design. OmniBalance design balances technology vs. design, letting you get so totally immersed in the content that the hardware disappears.

Xperia Tablet Z has subtly rounded edges and smooth, reflective surfaces on all sides, which are held together by an innovative skeleton frame. The glass-panelled front has a seamless surface and enhanced reflective coating.

 

Quality craftsmanship

Xperia™ Tablet Z was designed in collaboration with Sony consumer electronics experts for the highest quality craftsmanship and consistent attention to detail. Only premium materials were used throughout, like aluminium for the power button and durable tempered glass on the front.

Super slim and light

We’ve eliminated a layer of air and brought the display closer to the lens, for added touch sensitivity and a smaller size. This eliminated air layer, along with a new construction and skeleton frame allows for a slimness of 6.9 mm and a weight of under 500 grams.

Designed for entertainment

We’ve made sure the design of Xperia™ Tablet Z is worthy of the top entertainment inside. The borders of the HD tablet have been developed so as not to affect your viewing. And we’ve given Xperia™ Tablet Z four speakers, then placed them so you still get full sound, even if your hands cover two.

Premium design, outside and in – Sony unified UI

Whether you’re on a Sony smartphone or tablet, you’ll meet a consistent user interface on your device and in all your Sony Media apps.

Water- and dust-resistant

We tested Xperia™ Tablet Z to make sure it could stand up to water and dust. The high IP55 & IP57 rating means it’s unaffected by 30 minutes under water and can even withstand water jets.
We even put Xperia™ Tablet Z in a dust chamber for rigorous testing, to make sure its operations were unaffected.

Anti-shatter glass

The front panel of Xperia™ Tablet Z is made of durable tempered glass, with anti-shatter film.

Processor & Battery

Lightning speed performance – Quad-core processor.

We’ve matched the latest Sony software with the powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor. This advanced 1.5 Ghz quad core processor gives you maximum performance and speed, and incredible graphics, without draining your battery. Run multiple apps simultaneously, surf the web with no loading time and stream videos without a break. The Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor is asynchronous, which means each core is powered up and down independently. So you get the precise amount of power when you need it, without wasting power when you don’t.

Unparalleled graphics

The Snapdragon™ S4 Pro has a dedicated Adreno 320 GPU (graphics processing unit). This is two times faster than the previous Adreno processor and it means you can play the most advanced, visually stunning 3D games, and browse the web quickly and smoothly.

Ultra-fast LTE/4G technology

With Xperia™ Tablet Z, speed is never an issue, even when you’re out and about. The Snapdragon™ S4 Pro has a built-in LTE/4G modem*. With it, speeds are up to 10 times faster than 3G internet connections, so you can upload content quickly wherever you are.

 

 

Significantly improve battery life with Battery STAMINA mode

Tablets and smartphones use a lot of power, even when you’re not actively using them. All those apps that you’ve had open are still running in the background, using unnecessary battery. Battery STAMINA mode saves you wasted battery drain by recognizing when your display is off and turning off functions you don’t need, while keeping the notifications you want. As soon as you touch the screen and wake up your tablet or phone, everything is up and running again.

Get only the important notices

With Battery STAMINA mode, Wi-Fi and data traffic are disabled during standby, but you still receive alerts and alarms. As everyone has different needs, you can easily customize which apps you want to receive push notifications from, even in standby mode. Facebook notifications on or off? It’s up to you.

Stunning shots in any light – 8 MP camera with Exmor R™ for mobile

Xperia™ Tablet Z boasts an advanced back camera, for taking beautiful HD pictures and videos – wherever and whenever. The 8 megapixel camera is built with the same modules as leading Sony cameras, for the highest quality results. The Exmor R™ for mobile sensor is the mobile version of the revolutionary Sony “Exmor R” sensor, which was developed to take exceptional photographs in candlelight. Now Xperia™ Tablet Z lets you take gorgeous pictures with a tablet, with low noise level, even in low-light conditions.

HD chat camera

Evening chat? We’ve included the Sony Exmor R™ for mobile sensor on the 2 megapixel HD front camera as well. So you can have high-quality chats even in less than high-quality lighting conditions.

Always the right setting – Superior Auto

Now it’s always easy to get a great shot. With Superior Auto, you don’t have to know the ins and outs of camera settings to make use of them. In Superior Auto mode, the camera combines Scene Recognition with high quality and high performance image processing technology (HDR and noise reduction) to automatically shoot with the optimal settings. And your device is automatically optimised for 36 different scenes, so you always get the best shot.
